It’s important to have the right auto coverage. That means knowing and understanding the insurance contract details. Because there are a number of coverages in even the most basic auto policy, we’ve provided a brief explanation of certain key coverages below.
Liability
Protects you if you are legally responsible for the injury or death of others, or if you cause damage to their property in an auto accident. It also protects anyone else who is driving your car with your permission.
Medical Payments
Pays for necessary costs associated with medical and rehabilitation expense, loss of income, replacement services, etc. as a result of an accident–regardless of who is at fault.
Comprehensive
Pays for loss or damage to your vehicle from most causes except collision or upset.
Collision
Pays for loss or damage to your vehicle caused by collision regardless of who is at fault: with other vehicles, with stationary objects, or if your vehicles is hit while parked.
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist
Pays for damages if you or anyone in your vehicle is injured or killed by an at-fault uninsured vehicle, or a vehicle whose driver has less insurance coverage than your limit of underinsured motorist coverage.
